2. What's this button? On some earlier vans a button like the one pictured here was fitted as an option.
It is a heater control button. In standard mode the heater directs most of its output to the front seat area. When this button is depressed more heat is directed to the rear seating area.

3. What's the Fuel Consumption Like? A 2 or 2.4 litre petrol engine pushing a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick via an automatic gearbox does start at a bit of a disadvantage in the fuel consumption stakes. None the less, the Stepwagon can do quite well, if driven with a light foot. Stepwgn.com gets 10.6 kilometeres/litre by gentle driving around Tokyo, including a fair bit of urban motorway and trips off to the mountains. That's almost 30 miles to the imperial gallon, 25 miles to the US gallon or 9.43 litres for 100 kilometres. This is in a 2005 two litre van. It has to be said that we drive our van with a particularly light foot: more sporting drivers may expect to use more fuel. Also fuel consumption falls off 10% -12% in the fierce Japanese summer when the air conditioner is in constant use.

4. Where can I get parts for my Stepwagon? Stepwagons are not officially exported from Japan, so most overseas Honda subsidiaries and franchised dealers are not so willing to assist. However, the Stepwagon does share many parts with the CRV which is exported, so sometimes overseas agents are willing to help. There are specialist companies around the world who deal in Japanese car parts, and they will often be able to assist. Please click for more information.
